I Wish I Wasn’t Religious
I wish I wasn’t religious. I wish I was cool and righteous and could feign that I knew everything. I wish that I didn’t need any help. That I could chill in my lofty place if indignant complacency.
I hate that if you are religious that anything you say is curbed by a stigma….not stigmata. 🙂 If you say that “it is a beautiful day,” then you are just saying this cause you are religious. Not, that you actually think it is a beautiful day.
The truth is that I can’t help being in love with God, just like some can’t help believing that He doesn’t exist. It don’t know if it is cause we are wired this way, or if we each play a different role in the diversity of this planet. Maybe we are all part of the story. When I was young I used to say that if God is the creator of everything, then the question isn’t whether He exists, but whether we do.
In the movie, The Count of Monte Cristo our hero says “I don’t believe in God.” and the priest says, “Yes, but He believes in you.
Either way, I remain saying, in my closing, “May we all be blessed”.
